Ametsuchi No Uta

Crops that nourish the body and the soul...
Production that enriches the environment...
People and the planet in happy harmony...
These are our goals

Drawing on scientific knowledge and observation,
we create and refine farming techniques
that fully utilize the power of nature
to produce safe, delicious sustenance.
We are committed to promoting
these techniques far and wide.

Our efforts are twofold:
We operate a farm in Tsumagoi, central eastern Japan;
and we offer organic agriculture guidance to farms
across Japan and even abroad.

Our Agricultural Method

We want our farming methods to be kind to the planet and all of its living creatures. The following principles guide us as we experiment with and continually develop this agricultural practice.

  • Absolutely no agricultural chemicals, fertilizer (chemical or organic), animal manure, antibiotics/fungicides, or postharvest chemicals
  • Avoid overusing machinery; prioritize working by hand and naked-eye observation
  • Stimulate microbial activity in soil with 100% natural plant-based revitalizers, and build soil crumb structure to allow synergetic effects to occur (We have developed our own unique soil revitalizers. They are registered as JAS-certified organic agricultural materials)
  • Always adjust ridges by hand after mechanical ridging

Organic Agriculture Consultations

Here at Ametsuchi No Uta, we offer comprehensive consultation services and technical advice to organic farms and aspiring organic farmers around the country.
We can:

  • prepare Kadensui® soil revitalizer tailored specifically to your soil, climate, and crops
  • provide education on making compost from crop residues in your fields
  • advise on how to utilize the plants in your fields
  • advise on ways to deal with changes in climate from year to year

Ametsuchi Farms

Our village of Tsumagoi, in central eastern Japan, is surrounded by beautiful mountains and volcanoes.
The landscape is old Japan just as it used to be, where people live in harmony with the ecosystem around them.
The village is alive with gifts from nature: the sky that reflects the changing seasons; the sight of a hawk swooping down; the voices of birds, bugs, and frogs singing from fields and forests. This is where we practice agriculture that fully utilizes the power of nature.

We use the delicious, safe, nutritious produce that we grow to prepare food using traditional local methods.

Our main products are available year-round.
We also have seasonal products made from fresh produce that are
only available at limited times and in limited quantities.
We pride ourselves on easy-to-use food products that everyone
can trust.

Green Soybean Miso

(Green Soybean Miso,
available year-round)

Tsumagoi Village is a gift from nature. Is sits surrounded by mountains including Mt. Asama, with indelible scenery teeming with life. Here the skies change in radiance with the seasons. The plains and forests echo with the calls of birds, frogs, and the whispers of bugs while overhead hawks grace the skies. It is in a place like this we decided to harness nature to its fullest potential and begin farming.

We farm on land rejuvenated with our own plant-based foundation and use only seeds carefully selected from our own plants. We use compost derived from our own land and sediment and use companion planting to control weeds. We carefully pay attention to the environment, climate, even the movements of the sun and moon to grow crops without using any chemicals, fertilizers, animal manures, or pesticides.

On this kind of farm, we use traditional methods to produce
safe, beautiful, and nutritious vegetables.
"Standard products" made throughout the year
"Seasonal / limited quantity products" made using
seasonal crops for each season.
We strive to deliver simple and safe food to all consumers.
